| Abstract/Contents: | Various proportions of Lolium perenne cv. Majestic and Poa pratensis cv. Baron seed were sown at 16-40 g/m2. Whatever the proportion of L. perenne, it became the dominant species in the year of seeding. With higher seeding rates the effect was not so noticeable. Where there was no wear, P. pratensis became dominant after a year. With the higher seeding rates individual plants had lower vitality. After a year the proportion of each species in the sward was related more to the amount of seed sown than to the proportions of each species in the mixture. |
