Abstract/Contents:Centipedegrass [Eremochloa spp.] infected with plant-parasitic nematodes in Gainesville, Florida was treated with 3 kelp products known commercially as Kelp Meal, Maxicrop Seaweed Extract, and Sea-Born Liquid Seaweed. Each of the treatments was applied to 5 replicate plots. The turf was predominantly infected with Belonolaimus longicaudatus, Hemicycliophora sp. and Criconemoides sp. Only one nematode sp. showed a significant response to 2 of the materials used. Maxicrop and Sea-Born liquid kelp preparations effectively controlled B. longicaudatus one month after application but only Sea-Born remained effective after 2 months.
