Abstract/Contents: | "Most football field and other athletic field maintenance programs are under the supervision of persons who haven't had any turfgrass educational experience. Maintenance programs, if they exist at all, are usually the result of well meaning boosters or the coaches' experience. Using sulfur coated urea, available through a TVA program, a result demonstration management program was developed and introduced to high schools through a series of athletic field maintenance seminars. Monthly advisory visits are made to cooperating schools. The results of the program were and are directly related to the interest level of the school. In the past six years over 100 schools have been a part of this program. A certificate is awarded to schools that have had superior demonstrations." |
