| Abstract/Contents: | "Selected post emergence herbicides were applied in late July to pure stands of Khakiweed, also known as creeping chaffweed. This perennial weed is prevalent in turfs due to its low growth habit and persistent growth from woody underground roots. Percent weed control ranged from 1 to 90%. Maximum control was achieved at either 14 or 21 days after treatment (DAT). TURFLON, TURFLON II AMINE and HI-DEP provided the highest level of control. fluroxypyr and STINGER provided low levels of control. SENCOR provided moderately good control (75%) by 21 DAT. MCPP provided essentially no control when applied alone. In tank mixes, MCPP decreased the performance of TURFLON D, and TURFLON II AMINE, but increased slightly the performance of STINGER, which still remained low. Regrowth occured by 28 and 35 DAT. Repeat post emergence applications of these materials at rates tested appear necessary to control this troublesome weed." |
