| Abstract/Contents: | "Eleven pre-emergence treatments were evaluated for turfgrass response and crabgrass control under desert conditions after a one time application on March 13, 1992. Treatments included three rates of Monsanto G 15152 (granular formulation of dithiopyr), and one rate of the liquid formulation (commercially sold as Dimension). Other treatments included commercial products which included XL-2G, TEAM 2-G TEAM PLUS FERTILIZER, GALLERY/TEAM PLUS FERTILIZER and PENDIMETHALIN PLUS FERTILIZER. The appropriate treatments were amended with a 16-4-8 fertilizer to balance -N- levels among treatments. Turfgrass color and quality were not significantly affected by treatment applications at 39 or 63 days after treatment (DAT), although subtle differences were noted. The treatment effect from these products was significant at 80 and 111 DAT. Weed control was very good to excellent for 4 months after treatment. Overall mean weed control was 99.5, 99.7 and 95.9% at 80, 111 and 157 DAT. On 157 DAT, two of the leven treatments still maintained 100% control; Monsanto 15152 -G- at 0.50 lb. ai/a and TEAM 2G at 3.0 lb. ai/a." |
