Abstract/Contents: | "Hydroseeding trials on forest roadside slopes at two Vancouver Island sites showed that a single application of both seed and fertilizer was as effective as sequential application of seed and fertilizer. Mulching proved unnecessary. Untreated plots had no plant cover. Soil eroded to an average depth of 2.3 centimeters between September 1976 and April 1977, an estimated soil loss of 345 cubic meters per kilometer of road. Plant cover on treated plots, which averaged 65 percent, trapped soil eroded from upslope." |
