| Abstract/Contents: | "Plant analysis has been used successfully for evaluating the nutritional status of many agronomic and horticultural crops. This technique has not been utilized extensively for evaluating the nutritional status of turfgrasses. However, turf producers and golf course superintendents are now relying upon plant analysis to evaluate and adjust fertilizer programs. Near-infrared spectrophotometry (NIR) has been used for determining the nitrogen content of several plant materials. It is now being utilized in some segments of the turf industry for analysis of several other elements. This paper will report on the evaluation of the NIR technique as compared with conventional techniques for assaying the nutrient composition of turfgrasses." |
