| Abstract/Contents: | "Weibulls' Vägslänt mixture (contents, see above) was sown at the Airport of Banak, near Lakselv (70° N; 25° E) in 1970. In 1973 the vegetation cover was analyzed. The result is presented in table 1. In comparison to places in the Middle and the South of Scandanavia the Festuca rubra is less good developed and Poa pratensis gives a better contribution to the ground cover. The reason is obviously a good sandy soil and a favourable amount of nutrients. Agrostis tenuis has not developed very good. The cultivar Highland bent is not adapted to these severe conditions. In the Middle of Sweden the Highland bent grass gives a good contribution to the vegetation in areas which are not cut. Phleum nodosum has been found on two places to 5 per cent. This is normal, since Phleum nodosum is looked upon only as a cover crop. Therefore, it is accepted that it disappeares [disappears] within two or three years." |
