Abstract/Contents:Over a 5-year period 17 fertilizers which had been recommended for turf were tested in 7 different localities. Each was used at 20 g N/m2 annually. A standard plot (sulphate of ammonia, superphosphate and sulphate of potash) and an unfertilized plot were also included. At the end of the period soil reaction and nutrient contents were assessed in 2 different soils in different localities. The results of fertilizer treatments depended on locality and year of observation. The different N:P:K ratios in the fertilizers did not influence color and weed infestation. However, the N:P:K ratio and the soil nutrient contents in the 0- to 10-cm layer were related. The fertilizers influenced the soil rasction in different ways. There were significant relationships between the H+ concentration and weed infestation, the proportion of Poa pratensis and turf color.
