Abstract/Contents:Discusses concerns regarding the loss of topsoil due to sod production. Presents a study "designed to examine these concerns" that had "specific objectives of (1) measuring the amount of soil removed during harvesting, (2) determining the significance of incorporation of subsoil into the plow layer on plant growth, (3) measuring physical and chemical changes which may have occurred during sod farming and (4) to assess erosion losses by water during sod farming in contrast to continuous corn." Offers suggestions for improved soil management in sod production.
