| Abstract/Contents: | Pronamide was evaluated as a herbicide on bermudagrass [Cynodon dactylon], cv. Tifgreen, at 1-3 lb/acre, and cv. Sunturf at 0.75 and 1.5 lb/acre, applied once on 4 or 5 dates from early October to mid-April. Both areas also contained annual bluegrass [Poa annua] and the Tifgreen had been overseeded with ryegrass [Lolium perenne] and fescue [Festuca sp.]. Pronamide at 1.5 lb/acre or above, applied before February, controlled annual bluegrass, ryegrass and fescue, as well as mousear chickweed [Cerastium sp.]. No phytotoxicity was caused to either bermudagrass cv. and when assessed in May, Sunturf was more vigorous where annual bluegrass had been controlled. In another trial on the control of tall fescue [Festuca arundinacea] in bermudagrass, pronamide at 2 lb/acre applied in mid-October gave 95% control. |
