| Abstract/Contents: | "... In a trial programm [program] in Southern Bavaria (mainly Augsburg) from 1982 till 1986 the changes of vegetation were recognized in differentiated cultured lawns by the help of permanent plots. ... It can be shown that the course of sucession is determined by the set of species present when the change in cutting occurs. By mowing once a year lawns tend to form species-poor formations. Cutting twice or triple a year, old lawns change to meadow type complexes within a few years. ... In contrast young lawn seeds build up species-poor formations by reducing cutting. ..." The compositions of the various parcels of land, including their developing amounts of grasses and herbs such as Veronica filiformis, Bellis perennis, Poa pratensis, Trifolium repens, Plantage lanceolata, Medicago lupulina, Trifolium pratense, Agrophon repens, Festuca rubra, Lolium perenne, and Achillea millefolium are given in graphs, and the specific results regarding each mowing regime and the alteration in the plant community are given in detail. |
