| Abstract/Contents: | "A sprayer was designed and constructed for application of experimental fungicides at varying dosage, volume, pressure and plot size to turfgrass areas. It was constructed of aluminum, brass, and stainless steel, on two bicycle wheels with a trailing caster wheel for control of boom height. Hydraulic pressure for spraying is produced by a CO2 cylinder mounted on the unit. Four different boom widths were provided for spraying plots from 2 to 6 feet in width. It was designed to be manually propelled by one person with rate of travel shown by a speedometer calibrated to 0.1 mph. Spray output could be varied from 0.4 to 10 gallons per 1000 sq. ft by selection of proper pressure, nozzle tip orifice, and boom nozzle spacing. Pressures were adjustable from 1 to 100 psi. The spray booms were easily adjustable for boom height and angle of spray contact. Very precise spray volume outputs and spray patterns could be maintained from plot to plot after initial calibration." |
