| Abstract/Contents: | "The tetrazolium test method of seed viability for two turfgrass and six herbage species were studied. The optimum pretreatment concentration of tetrazolium solution and the staining time of each of the species were approached. The result showed that except the seed of Vicia sativa, all the other ones needed pretreatment of soaking, slowly prewetting and latitudinal cutting and longitudinal cutting as well as pinpricking. At 30°C the optimum condition of test was: the seeds of Eremochloa ophiuroides, Puccinellia chinampoensis, and Amaranthus paniculatus used 0.1% tetrazolium concentration, the time of staining was 14h; The seeds of Cynodon dactylon and Siphium perfolium used 0.5% concentration, the time of staining was 22h; The seeds of Vicia sativa and Echinochloa frumetacea used 0.5%, the staining time was 14h or 6h. The seed of Coranilla varia used 1.0%, the staining time was 14h." |
