Abstract/Contents:"The electrolyte leakage of Zoysia matrella and Poa pratensis exposed to the temperature between 0 °C and -21 °C were measured, and with logistic function, the median lethal temperatures (LT50) was determined. The quantitative analyses to the cold acclimation of both turfgrasses were studied. Increase of electrolyte leakage in Z. matrella under low temperature was S-curve and that of P. pratensis was slow. It indicated higher cold resistance in the latter. LT50 of Z. matrella decreased from -6.5 to -15.3 °C, that of P. pratensis from -7.3 to -10.0 °C. It was important for cold-season turfgrasses to cold acclimation and warm-season turfgrasses was acclimatative to dehardening caused by warmer weather during cold acclimation."
