| Abstract/Contents: | "Tall fescue (Fectuca [Festuca] arundinacea Schreb.) has long green period in Shanghai, but it can not survive well after over-summering. To increase the tolerance to summer stress, 2 new lines temporarily named "98-8" and "Shangnong Dwarf Tall Fescue" were bred by means of self-pollinated or open-pollinated. The results showed that these 2 lines performed the better tolerance to summer stress than the control variety Montauk introduced from America. Among 10 varieties or lines tested, "Shangnong Dwarf Tall Fescue" had the strongest tolerance to summer stress and recuperative capacity. Its obvious dwarf and dark green color were quite welcomed by clients." |
