Abstract/Contents:"The effect of cadmium on growth characteristics and biomass of two varieties of turfgrass was tested in this paper. The results indicated that cadmium had stronger effect on leaf groeth [growth] than on root biomass, it reduced root system vigor, and destroyed chlorophyll structure after entering leaves. While the reduction of chlorophyll content lagged. The early symptoms of plant poisoned were swell and rot root cap, plant ceased to grow and leaves lost color, wither away till die. Because of its great deleterious influence on turfgrass, Cadmium should be given more attention in environment inspection."
