| Abstract/Contents: | "Gramineous turf weeds are obstinate, cause severe harm, and are difficult to control. In order to find safe and effective chemical herbicides, experiments were carried out in Shenyang, 2001, applying herbicides to four kinds of gramineous turf weeds: crabgrass, barnyard grass, yellow foxtail grass, and goosegrass. Herbicides and their best application rates were chosen to effectively control these four kinds of gramineous weeds, but be safe to turfgrass. These herbicides included a pre-emergence herbicide composed of 48% Trifluralin EC applied at 1500 ml/hm2, and post-emergence herbicides including one composed of 6.9% Puma water EC applied at 750 ml/hm2, and one composed of 50% Quinclorac WP applied at 750g/hm2. Based on fresh weight, their weed kills were 81%, 88%, and 79% respectively. The use of a non-selective herbicide (20% Quaraquat gramoxoneat applied at 600~900 g/hm2) resulted in a 100% plant kill rate. The effects of Puma on crabgrass, and Quinclorac on barnyard grass were very satisfactory, with control rates of 92% and 93% respectively." |
