Abstract/Contents: | "Twenty cold-season turfgrass varieties from three species, namely, Festuca arundinacea, Poa pratensis, and Lolium perenne, were planted. Physical indices of the soil including soil hardness, soil bulk density, water retention capacity etc. were measured, and the effects on soil physical characteristics between turfgrass varieties compared. Varieties showing the best influence on soil physical characteristics included Amigo, Nuglade, America, Merit, Balin, Conni, Sakini, and Accent. Of the three species, Kentucky bluegrass showed the best influence. The results provided some useful information about variety selection in areas similar to the experimental locations." |
