Abstract/Contents:"6 choice turfgrass and forage varieties were introduced from overseas: Bardur, Barfina, Barkole, BarLp95-1, BarPc74, and Medicago sativa var Sanditi, to guage [gauge] their adaptability to cold, semi-arid areas. They were introduced to Lanzhou to a cold, semi-arid area, and assessed in field experiments. The varieties all grew well, apart from Barcorsa etc. under unusually high temperatures and wet weather in summer. M. sativa var. Sanditi is big, high yielding, cold tolerant, and resists lodging, showing obvious superiority over local varieties. Moreover, in the Lanzhou region, it seems insufficient to cut it three times a year, but at the beginning of flowering cutting should begin, cutting four times annually, giving an increase in production."
