Abstract/Contents: | "The effect of the four plant growth retardants, uniconazloe [unicomazole], chlormequat, mepiquat and B9 on growth characters of a warm-season lawn grass, Bermudan [bermuda] grass were investigated. Results showed that the optimum concentration and rate of unicomazole were 50-100 mg/L and 200 mL/m2, respectively. On such treatment the Bermudan [bermuda] grass grew more slowly, had shorter internodes, and wider and greener leaves with higher chlorophyll content. Treatments of chlormequat and mepiquat, both at 100-4-mg/L, and B9 and 500-2000 mg/L inhibited growth of the Bermudan [bermuda] grass, the degree of inhibition increasing with the concentration used. However, these treatments had no obvious effects on plant density, leaf color, size, and chlorophyll content of Bermudan [bermuda] grass." |
