| Abstract/Contents: | "The relationship between irrigation and above-under ground biomass of turfgrass was studied by field and indoor experiments. The results indicated that the growth rate of turfgrass increased with increasing water supply, it showed "fast-slow-fast" rule. During the whole growing season, biomass cut from turfgrass ranked as tall fescue>bluegrass>perennial ryegrass, indicating a significant positive correlation with growth rate. Moisture content of leaf was positively correlated with soil water content and negatively correlated with temperature. Water use efficiency increased under slight water stress. Perennial ryegrass was most sensitive to water deficiency and tall fescue was tolerant. Slight water stress benefited root system and adequate water was bad for tall fescue root system development. The special distribution of root system showed power function relationship." |
