Abstract/Contents:"A comparative study on stomatal and photosynthetic characteristics of white clover was conducted at different light intensity. Under stronger illumination conditions, a greater density of white clover was achieved. While no obvious difference was observed between middle and side leaves. Different light intensity had no significant impact on stomata distribution. The assimilation rate (A), stomatal conductance (gs), and intercellular CO2 concentration (Ci) in white clover were higher and transpiration rate (E) was less under stronger illumination conditions. CO2 and light response dynamics showed similar trends in all three treatments; but under stronger illumination conditions, apparent quantum yield and dark respiration rate were the greatest, while CO2 compensation point, carboxylation efficiency and photosynthetic capacity were the least. The results showed that stronger light irrigation may enhance stomatal density and assimilation rate, but reduce photosynthetic capacity of Trifolium repens."
