Abstract/Contents: | "Tests with formulations of thiabendazole (TBZ) showed that bentgrass cultivars (Agrostis spp.) vary in their susceptibility to injury by TBZ under Australian conditions. The cultivars in order of decreasing sensitivity were N.Z. browntop (A. tenuis), Penncross (A. stolonifera), Seaside (A. stolonifera) and American Hiland (A. tenuis). Rates as low as 0.68 oz. a.i./1000 sq. ft. caused discoloration to N.Z. browntop. On an active ingredient basis Product 64656 was the least injurious, then TBZ 90, TBZ 40f (Woods flowable) and TBZ 45. On couchgrass (C. dactylon) no discoloration was observed for any formulation even at rates of 20 oz. formulation/1000 sq. ft. Dollar spot disease trials were carried out on the cultivars Penncross and American Hiland. Rates as low as 0.24 oz. a.i. TBZ/1000 sq. ft. gave good control after one application. For fusarium patch (F. nivale) of Poa annua turf 0.48 oz. a.i. TBZ gave satisfactory recovery. Other fungicides that gave comparable results in these trials were Sclex, Topsin-M, Bavistin, Fungo and Daconil 2787." |
