| Abstract/Contents: | "Five varieties of three species of cold-season turfgrasses (Poa pratensis, Festuca rubra and Lolium perenne) were investigated for identifying the effect of temperature on the content of soluble carbohydrates and the activity of nitrate reductase (NR) in the above-ground part of the plants, as well as that on the content of soluble protein and the activity of superoxide dismustase (SOD) and peroxidase (POD) in the root system. The relationship between the changes in these indices and the tolerance of the grasses towards low or high temperatures was discussed, and thereby, a comprehensive evaluation was given to these turfgrasses." |
