Abstract/Contents:"A field experiment of spring-applied paclobutrazol to tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea Schreb. cv. Fawn and Pixie) at rate of 0.25, 0.50, 0.75, or 1.00 kg/hm2 was conducted. The results indicated that the seed mature time was delayed for 8 to 10 days and plant height was decreased significantly by the treatment. Application rate of paclobutrazol (less than 0.5 kg/hm2) increased seed yield significantly. The increase in seed yield was related with increasing production of fertile tillers. Among the seed yield components, ears per area and seed number per ear played the major role in contributing to the seed yield. High rate treatment such as 1.0 kg/hm2 showed the negative effects on seed production. The seed weight was little affected by palclobutrazol [paclobutrazol] application."
