Abstract/Contents:"Variation of several physiological indices including the lethal temperature, relative water content, membrane permeability and proline accumulation of five cool season turfgrasses under high temperature stress was measured. The result showed that the lethal temperature of Finelawn V, Suffolk, Amoson, Topcat, and Gator was 54.5°C, 53.3°C, 52.1°C, 51.7°C, 50.4°C respectively; RWC decreased rapidly and cell membrane permeability raised and proline accumulation were gradually increase with the temperature grades going up. It was found that degree of hurt was interrelated with the grades of high temperature stress, and there existed some difference of heat resistance among the five cool season turfgrasses. The heat resistance among measured species in graded as Tall fescue>bluegrass>ryegrass."
