Abstract/Contents:"Bermudagrass was an important turfgrass and recalcitrant in tissue culture in general. Embryogenic callus induction and plant regeneration were attempted for the first time from mature embryos of bermudagrass in this study. The results showed that high callus induction frequency was obtained from three different basic media, and the initial callus appeared sponge-like, soft and irregular, from which no plants could be regenerated. After subculture and improvement of the initial callus by enhancement of sucrose and agar concentration, supplement of appropriate concentration of ABA and a suitable ratio of auxin/cytokinin in N6 medium, compact granular and high regeneration ability embryogenic callus were induced with high frequency. Green plantlets were substantially regenerated from embryogenic callus on differentiation medium supplemented with 2.0 mg/L 6-BA, 1.0 mg/L KT and 0.5 mg/L NAA."
