Abstract/Contents: | "Variation of several physiological indices including the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and peroxidase (POD), content of total soluble sugar, proline accumulation, relative conductivity of native Eremochloa ophiuroides and Zoysia japonica under trample stress was measured. The results showed that under trample stress, 1) thickness of lawn, leaf length and width decreased dramatically; 2) relative conductivity, content of total soluble sugar and proline accumulation increased, but activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) decreased; 3) content of total soluble sugar and proline accumulation between measured species were E. ophiuroides > Z. japonica; 4) content of total chlorophyll and carotenoid were also E. ophiuroides > Z. japonica. Based on comprehensive analysis of physiological indices, it is concluded that E. ophiuroides is more tolerant to trample stress than Z. japonica." |
