Abstract/Contents:"As forage crops and turfgrass, gramineous plants play important roles in supporting animal production and improving human settlement. In last decade, genetic transformation systems for gramineous forage and turfgrass plants, such as Lolium spp., Festuca spp., Dactylis spp., Poa spp., Agrostis spp.,Zoysia spp., Cynodon spp. and Paspalum spp., have been successfully established. The purposes of the molecular breeding for the gramineous plants were mainly focused on improving forage quality, increasing tolerance to abiotic and biotic stress, producing herbicide resistance, and reducing harmful substances and otherwise."
