Abstract/Contents:"A consecutive survey on the emergence of winter turfweeds in Nanjing was conducted from 2000 to 2002. The emergence dynamics of 4 major weed species were determined. Relationship between weed emergence and meteorological factors were analyzed by partial correlation analysis (PCA) and path analysis (PA). PCA results showed that soil temperature in 0 cm depth was the principal factor affecting the emergence of turf weeds, but soil evaporation, air humidity, rainfall and sunshine had no significant effects. PA results indicated that soil temperature and soil evaporation affected weed emergence in an indirect way, while air humidity, rainfall and sunshine gave a direct impact on the seedling emergence. The interaction between soil temperature and soil evaporation was higher compared with other interactions among meteorological factors."
