Abstract/Contents:"The turf characters and physiological indexes of fifteen varieties of Festuca arundinacea were researched under natural lighting (1900 μmol/m2 · s), slight shading (1100 μmol/m2 · s) and medium shading (550 μmol/m2 · s) in Nanjing area. The results of the experiment showed that the number of tillers of each variety of F. arundinacea was less under slight shading and medium shading than that under natural lighting. leaf width and dry matter per leaf of each variety were decreased under medium shading than that under natural lighting. The number of tillers and soluble protein content of Nau 4# were higher than that of other varieties under slight shading. The chlorophyll content and turf quality of Nau 4# were highest under slight shading or medium shading. Nau 4# was shade-resistant variety of F. arundinacea. Turf quality of F. arundinacea positively correlates with soluble protein content."
