| Abstract/Contents: | "Concentrated Borascu (61.5% B2O3) at rates of 64 and 128 b/A, D.B. granular (43.2% B2O3, 75% 2,4-D) at 57 and 114 lb/A and the dimethyl amine of 2,4-D at 1 and 2 lb/A were applied October 26, 1956 to lawn grass in 16 × 100 ft. plots. The weeds resent included peppergrass, dandelion, common plantain and round-leaved mallow. On May 9, 1957, forbs were absent in plots treated with 2,4-D and with D.B. granular at 114 lb/A. Dandelions appeared sickly where D.B. was applied at 57 lb/A. Dandelions and peppergrass appeared vigorous in plots treated with C.B. on June 6, dandelion control had deteriorated t 80% in the 2,4-D treatments and where D.B. was applied as 114 lb/A. The C.B. treatments provided 40% control of dandelion. Granular materials damaged lawn grass 20% to 50% in May, 1957. The grass had recovered completely in the D.B. treatments by June and in the C.B. treatments by August." |
