| Abstract/Contents: | "A 1986 experiment was expanded and repeated in 1987 to evaluate fenoxaprop (Acclaim) alone and in combination with preemergence herbicides. The objectives were to determine the best pre/post herbicide combinations for effective season-long crabgrass control." The experimental design was a randomized complete block using 4'x 6' plots in three replications. An area was treated with glyphosate, verticut .5 inches deep and overseeded with large crabgrass on 5/4/87. The preemergence herbicides used were pendimethalin, bensulide, and DCPA along with split applications of Acclaim. Results show that Acclaim alone effectively controlled crabgrass but after 4 weeks new plants germinated. Split applications of Acclaim June 2 and July 1 provided excellent control throughout most of the season. Bensulide tank mixed with Acclaim (7.5 + 0.18 lb/A) provided significantly better season-long control than any other mix. Tabulated data includes treatment rate, and percent crabgrass control from 2 to 16 weeks after treatment. |
