| Abstract/Contents: | Studies were conducted to determine the tolerance of annual bluegrass and creeping bentgrass to Prograss (ethofumesate). Prograss works best for selective annual bluegrass control when two applications are spaced four weeks apart. The first application was on 9/16/86, and the second application was on 10/17/86. Injury or control were visually evaluated. Two applications were tried at various rates: 0 (control), 0.75, 1.0, 1.25, and 1.5 lbs AI/A of Prograss.The creeping bentgrass was largely unaffected by the largest application of Prograss at 1.5 + 1.5 lb AI/A. 5% of the annual bluegrass was killed at 0.75 + 0.75 lbs AI/A, and 67% was killed at 1.5 + 1.5 lbs AI/A. The second application was more injurious to annual bluegrass than the first. Therefore, there is an adequate safety margin between annual bluegrass and creeping bentgrass to use this product safely. Table 1 lists the injury and % control of annual bluegrass. Table 2 lists tolerance observations of Penncross creeping bentgrass. |
