| Abstract/Contents: | "Trials were conducted on the Turfgrass Research Plots at the Horticulture Research Station of Iowa State University near Ames, IA. Fungicides were applied to Emeral bentgrass maintained at a 5/32-inch cutting height, using a modified bicycle sprayer at 30 psi and a dilution rate of 5 gal/1000 sq ft. The experimental design was a randomized complete block with four replications. All plots measured 4 ft x 5 ft. The entire plot was inoculated with rye grain infested with the dollar spot pathogen on 30 May. Fungicide applications began on 5 Jun and continued on 19 and 26 Jun and 3, 17, and 29 Jul. The number of dollar spot infection centers per plot was counted on 19 Jun, 4 and 17 Jul, and 1 Aug. Weather was relatively wet until mid-June, then unusually dry through the end of the test period. Dollar spot symptoms appeared on 16 Jun. Disease pressure was moderate on 19 Jun and 1 Aug, and severe on 4 and 17 Jul. Almost all treatments suppressed dollar spot significantly (DMRT, P>0.05) better than the unsprayed check treatment on all rating dates. The combination of ProStar 70WG and Cyprocanozole 40WG produced an enhanced green color on plots on 1 Aug." |
