Abstract/Contents:"Fungicide treatments were evaluated on a golf course fairway at the Elk's Country Club, West Lafayette, IN. The turf area received conventional golf course care. Treatments were applied to 3.3 x 6.6 ft plots arranged in a randomized complete block design with 3 replications. Treatments were applied with a hand held CO-2 pressurized sprayer with TSS SX hollow cone nozzles at 40 psi and at a rate of 2 gal/1000 sq ft. All treatments were first applied on 29 Apr. Treatments with a 14-day interval were also applied on 13 and 27 May. Treatments with a 21-day interval were also applied on 20 May. Treatments with a 28-day interval were also applied on 29 May. Disease severity was evaluated 22 May, 5 Jun and 20 Jun. Temperatures were normal in May and above normal in June. Rainfall and humidity were normal in May but below normal during June. Leaf spot symptoms were observed in the week prior to the first spray application. Disease severity was high in May, but declined rapidly in June. None of the fungicides tested reduced leaf spot levels until about 3 weeks after the first application. Among the experimental compounds tested ASC 66518 82.5WDG and San 832F 50 WP at 3.0 oz and 14-day intervals gave excellent control. Among the labeled compounds, Broadway 4.42AS, Chipco 26019 2F, Daconil 2787 4.1FL, Daconil 2787 90WDG and Rizolex 75WP at 14-day intervals gave good control. Banner 1.1EC, Eagle 40WP and Rubigan 1AS did not give satisfactory control of leaf spot at the tested rates and spray application intervals. No phytoxicity [phytotoxicity] was observed."
