| Abstract/Contents: | A trial was carried out to determine a suitable substrate for the vegetation-bearing layer in wear-resistant turf areas used in roof-gardening. Various proportions of sand and Florahum (a mixture of peat and nutrients with a stabilized pH and microorganisms) were sown with a turf seed mixture. The turf was evaluated several times during the first year for homogeneity, density, color, weediness and wear-resistance. A mixture of 65% sand (particle size < 3 mm) and 35% Florahum is recommended. |
