Abstract/Contents: | "Reduction of the composite sample to give the submitted sample is often done under warehouse conditions where methods prescribed by ISTA may not always be used. Four methods prescribed in ISTA rules were compared with a number of other methods which are commonly used in practice. The investigation was carried out on samples of known constitution which were designed to present different problems in mixing and dividing seed to give a smaller sample. In general the methods prescribed by ISTA were satisfactory although there was some evidence of operator and/or equipment bias arising. None of the other methods were satisfactory." |
