| Abstract/Contents: | In March 1974 two fairways on Landskrona Golf Course were invaded by many birds, such as sea-gulls, gulls, jackdaws and rooks. The birds almost spoiled the turf in their search for larvas of bibionid flies, (Bibio hortulanus L.). On damaged areas were found on average 35 larvas per dm2 , with a variation from 15-50 larvas per dm2 As the pupal stage is very short there is normally no reason for an insecticide treatment. In this case the birds disappeared quite quickly and after resowing and an extra fertilization, the injury was repaired reasonably quickly." |
