| Abstract/Contents: | Herbicides were applied in April, 1971, in an established red fescue-Kentucky bluegrass turf to control Digitaria ischaemum. Eight standard treatments gave 90-100% control and 4 newer chemicals including A-820 (dibutalin) at 2-4 lb, NC-5651 [decafluorobenzhydrol] at 8-10 lb, and RP-17 623 [4-(2,4-dichloro-5-isopropoxyphenyl)-2-t-butyl-1,3,4- oxadiazolin-5-one] at 2 lb/acre gave 80-89% control. Half rates of Bandane [polychlorodicyclopentadiene isomers] (17.5 lb), bensulide, chlorthal and terbucarb (5 lb) and RP-17 623 (2 lb/acre) applied in 1971 after the application of full rates in 1970 gave excellent control. Of the 10 herbicides tested for the control of Eleusine indica nitralin at 2 lb, RP-17 623 at 4 lb, terbucarb at 10 lb and tri-calcium-arsenate at 209 lb/acre gave good to excellent control. |
