Abstract/Contents:"Typhula incarnata is the causal agent of gray snow mold, a low-temperature disease affecting several fine turfgrasses including Agrostis spp. The oversummering stage of the fungus is a sclerotium which remains dormant in the upper levels of the soil (0-3 cm) and may be susceptible to attack by other microorganisms during the dormancy period. Several species of Trichoderma parasitized the sclerotia of T. incarnata in culture on artificial media and on soil. The viability of these sclerotia was drastically reduced. Enhancement of environmental conditions favorable to Trichoderma spp. antagonistic to sclerotia of T. incarnata could reduce the inoculum potential of the disease in the field."
