| Abstract/Contents: | "A negative correlation exists between endophyte infestation level of tall fescue seed lots and seedling loss due to Rhizoctonia zeae and R. solani under certain environmental conditions. The objective of this research was to determine if endophyte infestation level influences seedling losses due to Pythium aphanidermatum and Magnaporthe poae. Two seed lots with endophyte infestation levels of < 1% (E-) or 65% (E+) were planted (10 g/flat) in Fafard(R) soilless medium or Fafard(R) amended with M. poae or P. aphanidermatum. The number of seedlings per 5 cm core was counted; 3 cores were sampled from each flat. Five flats per treatment were used and each experiment was repeated 3 times. Endophyte infestation level did not influence seedling losses to either pathogen." |
