| Abstract/Contents: | "Sand banding has been around for over 30 years and, until recently, has been limited to sport field management. Increased pressure for firm and fast golf course from tee to green has prompted some superintendents to experiment with the application of fairway sand banding as part of a leading-edge golf course management program. At first glance, sand banding may appear to be a radical solution to the elusive problem - firm, fast playing conditions in all weather and seasons. Upon closer inspection, sand banding offers many significant benefits over current cultural programs." |
