Abstract/Contents:Renovation of the fourteenth fairway began on 8/29/88 when Roundup was applied at the rate of 1 gal/acre to kill all plants on the fairway. It was then aerified with a Ryan greensaires. The cores were broken up and the soil exposed with three passes of a greensmower equipped with a vertical mowing units. It was seeded with bentgrass on 9/4/88 at a rate of 50 pds/acre. Three weeks after seeding, 9/26/88, the fairway was mowed with triplex greensmowers at 0.6". To inhibit Poa annua invasion into the bentgrass, overseeding Prograss was applied 10/27/88 at two qt/acre. The final Prograss treatment was applied 12/5/88. The cost was estimated at $870/acre.
