Abstract/Contents:"Affects [Effects] of mowing freqency [frequency] and stubble height on the quality of kentucky [Kentucky] bluegrass/tall fescue tulf [turf] established in 1993 at Scientic [Scientific] Garden of China Agricultural Univenity [University] were studied during 1996-1997. Total 6 mowing treatments were applied to kentucky [Kentucky] bluegrass/tall fescue turf by 3 mowing stubble heights × 2 mowing frequencies. The mowing stubble heights were 8, 6 and 4 cm, and frequencies were once and twice per week. The results showed that tnrf [turf] grasses growth rate could be incropsed by lower stubble height in both of the two mowing frequencies. A bigger tiller diameter could be obtained by forwing twice per week than that of once per week. Considering turf growth rate, tiller density, tiller diameter and management cost, 6 cm stubble height and once mowing per week are better for kentucky [Kentucky] bluegrass/tall fescue turf. Good turf uniformity and lower number of reproductive tillers could be obtained by two mowings per week and the lowest stubble, and good turf greenness could be obtained by low mowing frequency and higher stubble treatments for kentucky [Kentucky] bluegrass/tall fescue turf. There were no significant difference of underground biomass between any mowing frequency and stubble height treatments during mowing year and next year."
