Abstract/Contents: | "Wild chervil (Anthriscus sylvestris) is becoming a common roadside weed in the Northeast, is a Class B noxious weed in Washington State and is prohibited in Massachusetts. Wild chervil is not known to be listed as a controlled weed on any herbicide labels, and control methods have not been well documented. The following six herbicide rates, plus a control, were replicated three times in 3 by 6 meter plots: 1.96 kg a.e./ha glyphosate IPA, 0.84 kg a.e./ha imazapyr, 0.021 kg/ha metsulfuron methyl, 2.24 kg a.e./ha triclopyr BEE, 0.11 kg a.e./ha imazapic, and 0.12 kg a.e./ha aminopyralid. All chemical mixtures were applied at approximately 40 gallons per acre, with water, a non-ionic surfactant and blue colorant. The control plots received water, non-ionic surfactant and blue colorant. Applications were performed on April 23, 2013, and assessed on September 17, 2013. Results from 147 DAT: Metsulfuron methyl and imazapyr, near 100% control; glyphosate IPA 95% control; imazpic [imazapic] 91% control; triclopyr BEE 72% control, aminopyralid 57% control." |
