Abstract/Contents:"The city of Castellabate (Cilento) has equipped its playing field with a modern and functional, latest generation synthetic turf cover, which is worthy of hosting major sports events. It was inaugurated with a friendly match between Avellino and representatives of the two local teams. The inauguration ceremony was held in September, in a festive climate, with a large participation of citizens and authorities. The synthetic grass is made of 62 mm high two-tone green monofilaments, closely resembling natural grass, not twisted but enclosed in double intertwined yarn for optimal weave and better appearance of the finished surface. Special HRD (high resilience system) fibres with 'high elastic memory' were produced by extrusion from 100% extra soft, lubricated polymers, so that the blades are non-abrasive, UV ray and frost resistant, very sturdy, self draining, coated on the back with a mix of polyurethane and non-spoiling rubber latex; the same applies to the margins of the rolls used to make the white lines. The stabilisation infill consists of selected, washed, spheroidal silica sand particles; the performance infill uses elastomeric granules of high quality rubber, covered with polyurethane resin and non-toxic, eco-friendly pigments."
