Abstract/Contents:"This study describes five turfgrass species (Zoysia matrella (L.) Merr., Z. macrostachya Franch. et Sav., Cynodon dactylon (L.) Pers., Z. japonica cv QingDao and Festuca arundinacea cv Triplet) to determine changes of morphological and physiological indexes during water stress. Species tolerant to excessive water were evaluated by subordinate function. Results show that leaf wilt rate, leaf relative electric conductivity (REC), superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity, peroxidase (POD) activity, content of proline and total soluble carbohydrate (TSC) were significantly increased over controls on 15th day of waterlogging. Subordinate function analysis based on REC, SOD and POD activity indicated that the order of waterlogging tolerance from high to low was: Z. macrostachya Franch. et Sav. Cynodon dactylon (L.) Pers. Festuca arundinacea cv Triplet Z. japonica cv QingDao Z. matrella (L.) Merr."
