| Abstract/Contents: | "The paper will describe trials in the United Kingdom, Holland and Belgium to evaluate methafluoridamid* as a growth retardant for private lawns and amenity turf. Topics discussed will be methods and rates of application, symptoms of over-application, duration of retardation, differential effects on various species of turfgrass, effects on turf weeds combined treatments with fertilizers. Comparison will be made with other growth retarding materials. Suggestions will be made as to how the material can usefully be fitted into an overall programme of turf management in addition to its use for "once-only" treatments. * Methafluoridamid is the proposed common name for the 3M's growth retardant chemical MER 12325." |
